Pavlin, drug name: total glucoside from paeonia lactiflora, an active ingredient extracted from paeonia lactiflora, was developed by the late Professor Xu Shuyun, a famous Pharmacologist in China. It has been approved to be marketed as an anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory new drug. Its natural ingredients are clear: it is composed of five monomers, namely paeoniflorin, hydroxypaeoniflorin, paeoniflorin, paeoniflorin and benzoyl paeoniflorin. It is mainly used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus erythematosus due to its anti-immune inflammation, anti-angiogenesis and liver protection effects.

Since the drug can inhibit inflammatory cell infiltration and vascular proliferation, which are also the main pathogenesis of psoriasis, clinicians have gradually used the drug in the adjuvant therapy of psoriasis. Found that the drug with retinoic acid or collaborative applications such as methotrexate, can improve the efficacy, prolong the time to relieve the psoriasis, but also can reduce the side effects of retinoic acid or methotrexate, such as reducing oral retinoic acid taste, due to increased blood lipid and adverse reactions of dry skin, and can greatly reduce the retinoic acid or methotrexate liver damage caused by chance. Therefore, the drug is often used to treat the heavier psoriasis vulgaris, arthropathies psoriasis and erythrodermic psoriasis. Indeed, the role of the drug in the treatment of psoriasis has been included in the 2013 edition of China's guidelines for psoriasis treatment.

However, for this drug, it is generally required to be used continuously for more than 3 months, and it is generally not used alone. It is used in combination with oral glucocorticoids or intravenous glucocorticoids, or in combination with retinoic acid or immunosuppressive agents due to severe psoriasis.

Usage: For adults, take two tablets three times a day, but it is generally required to start with two tablets twice a day for the first week. Because this medicine contains lactofructose composition, may cause hypertonic diarrhea or increase in the number of stools, etc. Take the medicine three times a day as your gut ADAPTS. Children can be given two oral doses of 30mg/d per kilogram of body weight.

The adverse reactions of Pavlin were very few, mainly manifested as changes in stool characteristics, such as soft or thin stool, increased stool frequency, mostly mild, no treatment is required. Other rare adverse reactions include abdominal distension, poor appetite, abdominal pain, nausea, dizziness, etc., which can be recovered after withdrawal of the drug. No liver and kidney function impairment.
